14 April 2010 — Polyera has been selected as winner of the 2010 IDTechEx award for Best Organic Materials Development. The award - given during a dinner ceremony in Dresden - was given for the Polyera's work in developing printable, air-stable polymeric and molecular n-type organic semiconductors for OTFT devices.
Both n- and p-type semiconductor materials are necessary for the fabrication of complementary circuits, which have a host of advantages over single-polarity circuits, including simpler design, lower power consumption, higher noise margins, and better performance. While p-type materials with usable performance levels have been available for some time, it was long thought that creating higher-performance, user-friendly n-type organic materials would be difficult if not impossible.
"We are very honored to receive this award," said Polyera's Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Antonio Facchetti, "and we are happy that the need for CMOS-enabling sets of materials is becoming more widely recognized. We hope to continue pushing our state-of-the-art forward."
