A Passion for Creative Inventions

Congratulations to Antonio Facchetti, our Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder for winning the American Chemical Society's National Award for Creative Invention!

This prestigious annual award recognizes a single inventor for the successful application of research in chemistry and/or chemical engineering that contributes to the material prosperity and happiness of people.

Antonio’s passion about creative inventions in electronic materials is apparent in more than 100 U.S. and foreign patents, over 350 research articles, 12 books/book chapters and being recognized as one of the top 100 materials scientists in the world by Thomson Reuters.

Dear Polyera Stakeholders

Ten years ago, on August 29th 2005, Polyera was founded with the dream of breaking the limitations which traditional electronic materials and components imposed on product design. Over the past decade, Polyera has been conducting deep R&D on the physics and chemistry of electronics, which has allowed us to enable the manufacturing of disruptive components, such as truly flexible displays. In recent years, we further expanded our capabilities to solve the engineering and design challenges around incorporating such novel components into products which would provide new and meaningful experiences to users.

Our team is thrilled to unveil the Wove Band, the world’s first flexible display product made possible by Polyera Digital Fabric Technology. Wove is a device with an active-matrix display which can literally change shapes in the user’s hands, a dream which has existed for a long time but was never previously possible. The introduction of such a device to the world is the culmination of a decade of work during which a passionate group of more than 100 Polyera scientists, engineers and designers have closely collaborated to bring a dream to reality.

The best part is that the Wove Band is just the very beginning of an exciting new journey: an exploration of devices and experiences which no longer are limited by electronics being hard, lifeless, and cold, but instead are soft, supple, and organic–where the forms they take and the roles they play become more natural and more human.

We would like to warmly thank all of Polyera’s employees and investors for making it possible for us to get this far. We can’t wait to share the next decade with you.

Sincerely,
The Polyera Team
